1984 Book Critique

When George Orwell wrote this book I think he wrote it in a lot of fear and fright and like there was a lot of horror going on in his life. It ties into how people live today in their daily life. Every situation that Winston has went it seems like people go threw the same thing in their daily life. This is kind of like an elution with Winston. There are these telescreens that follow Winston every where that he goes. They are basically Party of Oceania that are torturing Winston. Winston can’t even think thoughts because of the "thought police" is there. Even thinking rebellious thoughts is illegal. So thinking about a thought crime is, it is the worst crime of all. Winston has bought a diary so that he could write down all his criminal thoughts in and in this case Winston has a strong dislike for the Party because all the criminal thoughts that he is recording in that diary are illegal. Winston’s get this letter from O’Brien a member of the Party that reads about a girl named Julia. He then meets this girl and then he starts to fall in love with her.
What I liked about this book was that it was kind of mysterious and there was sort of a catch at the end. I knew that it was O'Brien the one that was trying to break up the relationship between Julia and Winston. I really didn’t like how they lost love for each other; I wanted them to be together. Another thing that I liked about this book was that every question that i had about this book it always answered it later on in the book. I liked how in the beginning of the book it was kind of boring but when it came into the middle then into the end it was really interesting and it got really good to read after a while. This book was a bit challenging to read first like the text was kind of hard to comprehend but then when I know what I couple of words mean then its like everything starts opening up and everything is clear to comprehend in my head.
I would recommend this book to anybody that is interested in elution’s or mysterious conclusions. I would recommend this to people who are in 7th grade and up. I say this because I don’t think that students under that age would get a good deep understanding about this book. I think it is a lot to put inside your head and to understand the book. I am saying this is going to be a challenging book for them. I think that some of the words they are not going to understand/no what it means. I think that adults would be very interested in this text because I think George Orwell wrote this book sort of based on his thoughts on maybe situations that may have been going on in his daily life today. I think this book was an interesting book but it was just not in my interest to read.

Dialectical Journal #3
Quote: Winston had woken u with his eyes full of tears. Julia rolled sleepily against him, murmuring something that might have been "What’s the matter".
Response: I think that this quote means that Winston is having a hard time with his life because he is having dreams of his mother, so his is basically thinking that he is the one that murdered his mother. This quote also shows that Julia is by his side 100% trying to help him and convince him that he did not kill his mother. So this is showing that Julia cares about what is happening to Winston.
Connection: This reminds me of when I was little an I used to have really bad dreams of not exactly the same thing Winston is dreaming of but other things but when I had dreams like that their was always somebody in my house that was always their supporting me and telling me or trying to convince me that its only a dream. So sort of convincing me exactly like Julia is trying to do but with Winston when he has dreams of his mother.

Interview with Jin Jingzhi Reflection
When I was reading this interview it went into into talking about how she was scared that her husband was going to have a affair. Before the late 1950 it was said that husbands having serveral wives was a glorius thing. So Jin Jingzhi was worried that he would.
Then it started going into her actual life and how it was before 1949. Jin Jingzhi was living a hard life with her husband in jail and her having to deal with five children. She also had to deal with the Culture Revolution and also the Red Army coming into there house and searching it. Everyone that was in the house could not have any social contact with each other at all.
Thoughout her life she really shows that she loved her husband and was living through a rough life living without her husband.
